2009 H1N1 Pandemic
During 2009, an H1N1 influenza virus caused the first global pandemic influenza in more than 40 years, resulting in substantial illness, hospitalizations, and deaths throughout the world. Idaho's Public Health Districts, in conjunction with the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare and other community partners, responded to the public health threat by
conducting a mass vaccination campaign.
The 2009 H1N1 global pandemic was declared over by the World Health Organization in August 2010.

Protecting Yourself from the Flu
Even though the immediate pandemic threat has subsided, public health officials recommend a yearly flu vaccination as the first and most important step in protecting yourself against the flu. The seasonal flu vaccine for 2010-2011 will protect you against an H3N2 virus, an influenza B virus and the 2009 H1N1 virus.
Eastern idaho Public Health District is now offering seasonal flu vaccine. Flu shots will be given by appointment only. For a list of seasonal flu clinic dates and prices, click here.
