Women's Health Check Program

New Income Guidelines effective 03/15/12.

Breast and cervical cancer are important health issues for women because they affect survival, lifestyle, self-image, and quality of life. If these diseases are to be controlled in Idaho, early detection must increase.

The purpose of the Women's Health Check (WHC) Program is to provide breast and cervical cancer screening for older, uninsured women with limited family income and no other resources for these services.

Qualifications

The Women's Health Check Program is for women who:

  1. Are U.S. citizens or U.S. residents at least five years;
  2. Do not have any other resources such as health insurance, Medicare Part B, or Mediaid that covers mammograms or Pap tests;
  3. Do not have income above that shown in the following chart; and

For each additional person add:

4. And are one of the following:

  • Women aged 50 and older for Pap test, clinical breast exam and mammogram or
  • Women aged 40 - 49 for Pap test. (Note: Women who have not had a Pap test in the last 5 years are at high risk for cervical cancer and are a priority for enrollment.)
  • Limited enrollment and services available for uninsured women who meet these additional criteria:
    • Age 30-49 and have symptoms suspicious of breast cancer confirmed by a health care professional;
    • Age 30-39 and have symptoms suspicious of cervical cancer confirmed by a health care professional.
What Does the Women's Health Check Program Cover?
The Women's Health Check program provides regular cancer screenings for qualifying women--because once is not enough. The program covers the following services:
  • Annual clinical breast exam;
  • Annual mammogram;
  • Pap Test every two years (after three consecutive normal Pap tests, Women's Health Check will cover one Pap test every three years); and
  • Diagnostic services, if needed.
