Immunization Services

The two public health interventions that have had the greatest impact on the world's health are clean water and vaccines. Vaccines have prevented serious illnesses and death for millions of children and adults every year. But there is still a long way to go. Immunizations,  the most cost-effective public health intervention, continue to be under-used.

Appointments Required
Eastern Idaho Public Health District offers immunizations for children and adults. All immunizations are offered by appointment only. Find the health district office nearest you to call for an appointment.

Vaccine for Children
Idaho is a Vaccine for Children (VFC) state, which means no child will be denied immunization services based on an inability to pay. At Eastern Idaho Public Health District, Insured children will have their insurance company billed for the services received.

Adult Vaccinations
For adult and foregin travel immunizations, payment is due at the time of service. We DO NOT bill insurance for adult or foreign travel immunizations. However, you may submit your receipt to your insurance provider yourself.

Please Note: Effective June 1, 2012, EIPHD began billing the following insurance companies for routine adult immunizations (Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Tap, Twinrix, HPV, Varicella, MMR, IPV, and Influenza).
  • Blue Cross of Idaho
  • Blue Shield
  • DMBA employee policy only (does not include college student policy)
  • Pacific Source
  • Great West Cigna
Some other vaccines may be covered, but pre-authorization is required. Insurance CANNOT be billed for foreign travel vaccines.

If your insurance copmany is NOT listed, please call us to check your coverage.

Merck Vaccine Patient Assistance Program
Because very limited public funding is available in the United States to provide vaccines to uninsured adults, Merck has created the Merck Vaccine Patient Assistance Program. This private and confidential program provides vaccines free of charge to eligible adults, primarily the uninsured who, without Merck's assistance, could not afford needed Merck vaccines. To see if you qualify for this patient assistance program, please call EIPHD's Immunization Program at (208) 533-3235.

All services provided and medical records are kept confidential. The client is the only person who has access to these records besides the medical providers at the clinics.
